XD45C vs. XD9SC grip
SA website lists the SC as 4.75 and the 45C as 5 (with the lower capacity magazines in each)
Is the grip only .25" longer on the 45? Does anyone have both to compare? I know there is no grip extender YET for the 45C, but I am wondering if I would even need it....my hands are fairly small. I DO need it on the 9SC My local shop never has them in stock...been there numerous times to check. Also, the SA site lists a 4" and 5" compact for the 45? Does anyone actually carry the 5"? TIA

side by side they look very similar I have both and the 45 does not need the pierce extension. but the sc does. I wear a 7.5 surgical glove so that may give you a measure. DZ

So on your SC if you grip it with NO mag can you get any of your pinkey on the grip? I cant.

You would not need a grip extender for the XD45 Compact, I wear a medium size glove, 7-8, and the grip fits me just fine, as you can see.
![]() You actually have 2 5/16" of gripping area for your fingers below the trigger guard. And yes, I do carry my Compact Tactical once in a while, the extra 1" really doesn't affect how I conceal the gun (IWB).

Thanks a ton guys.
In that pic, IF that were my XD9SC, the line under the grip outline is where my ring finger comes to....but since that is the 45C, I should be A OK. I am really torn between the tac and service length on the barrel. I shoot the heck out of my carry weapon, and this one would be no different. Does anyone know if the frame is the same? Can you just swap a 5" slide and barrel on a 4" 45C?

Yes, the frames are the same. You can put the Service 5" slide/barrel on the 4" Compact frame just fine, and have Tacticals in both Service and Compact.
I chose the Compact Tactical because I like to shoot for accuracy at the range, and I like to carry what I shoot. I also like the fact that I can change the recoil spring weights whenever I want (for different loads) with the Tac. You can't do that with the 4" model. I have Don's fat guide rod (adds weight to the front end) and a heavier spring (20#), both of which help on the felt recoil, IMHO. I like this combo

great, thanks again.
I will probably end up getting both the 4" compact and the 5" tactical (regular grip) later on I can then make any configuration I like, and see what carrys the best for me. I have been a big fan of 9mm for a long time, but with the new compacts, no reason not to carry .45acp IMHO. Still love my XD9 subbie to death. Would not part with it for anything. Maybe make it my glove box gun or something. It will probably take me months after getting the 45C to actually switch it to my CCW....I want at least 3-4k rounds through it, and 500+ of my carry ammo.

here is a comparison
here is a pic comparison between the XD40SC and the XD45. Only a 1/4 inch difference in the grip. But the Grip is thicker on the 45.

I assume that holds true for the Sevice model frame too. If so, how much is a complete slite assembly to go back and forth between a Sevice and Tactical model I wonder? Do you thinks its cheap enough to make it the right choice over buying a full out Tactical if I had no use for both at the same time on the range?

Don't think SA will sell just the slide/barrel for you to try that, if that's what you are asking.
