XD Compact .45 10 round mag springs...

Are problematic to find to say the least! Called Springfield and they only sell complete magazines. $$$ Called Wolff and not only don't they make the mag springs for the 10 round magazines, they inferred that my parents weren't married when I was born. No, only kidding, but they don't make the springs and don't have any idea when they will produce them.

So - any ideas where I can buy mag springs for the 10 round mags?

Incidentally, in doing a search prior to this posting someone recommended simply stretching the existing mag spring. I examined the length of my primary carry mags (which are always kept loaded) and compared that length with a spare mag which is always kept unloaded. No difference in length.

Thanks
Paul

uh, why do you need new mag springs already? I doubt that you have worn them out already.

Uh, because I have about 2K rounds through my weapon in less than a year of ownership and I see a need for spare mag springs in the future.

Now.. SOMEBODY makes the springs. Anyone have any idea where I can obtain some?

Thanks

www.gunsprings.com

47 dollars for a pack of 10 springs. And they come in two diffrent kinds. +5% extra spring rate over stock and +10%

I don't think the springs at Wolff (www.gunsprings.com) are for the "compact" 10rd mags. I think they are for the 10 round full size mags (California specials).

I spoke with Springfield Armory a few days ago (ordered another 10 compact mag and extra recoil spring/rod. I asked about mag springs and was told that they plan on carrying them eventually. The rep noted that they are offering more parts now than they did when the pistol first came out.

FWIW

I think they will work as the usually way to reduce the mag capacity by adding a spacer to an existing mag. Generally the mag body remains the same.

Don't think so, the full size 10rnd mag is taller than the 10rnd Compact mag.
The springs may still work, but there is a difference in mag size between the Compact and Service 10rnd mags.

My thought is that they would use a common spring manufacturing wise it's cheaper than creating a new spring. I have both a Compact and a Full Size and I'd check for you but I don't have the 10 round Full Size mags. Mine are 13 rounders.

The Compact and Full sized 10rnd mags may indeed use the same springs. But we won't actually know until SA tells us (proprietary secret you know) or another vendor like Wolf starts selling them

The 10 round Compact mag spring is 5.15" long with a spring dia. of .053 and the base spacer is .06 thick. If someone has the California 10 round mag, you need the same info to see if they use the same mag spring.
