Oh, I ordered springs for other pistols, too. They were, as usual, fine.

I'm really sorry to hear that.

Yeah, I'm sorry to hear it too.

So we've come full circle. Nobody seems to know where to get these springs (and followers). And yet Springfield surely gets them from somewhere. Yeah, yeah - I'm serious, and don't call me Shirley.

SOMEBODY makes these damn things for Springfield!!

So - Plan C. Does anyone out there have a contact at Springfield where we can find out where in the Sam Hill to obtain replacement springs and followers? Springfield will gladly sell us ten round magazines, but parts for the mags?

Frankly, the XD-45 mag springs look more like Glock springs with the way they taper from bottom to top. FWIW

Well, as I have come to expect with Wolff, they got back to me in flash and will pay for shipping back to them and credit my card for the 3 pak. In fact, the tech/production guy I am corresponding with wants to see the current spring in the 10 round full size mag. He suspects that Springfield has changed the follower in their full sized 10 round mags to use the same spring as their 13 round mag. Wolff intends to make adjustments in manufacturing as soon as they see what's up with the mag.

In order to make up for my "inconvenience," the tech/production guy I am corresponding with said he's going to send me some new springs when they go into production . . . free of charge. That's customer service.

Did they give you any indication of when they might go into production and have the springs available? When I asked this question the guy just laughed at me.

Perkelp:

The guy I am working with is the "the guy" who gets all the customer complaints. I dealt with him three years ago regarding striker springs for the Swiss K31. I sent him an extra spring from my parts kit to examine. Unfortunately, it's not round wire, but semi-round with flat sides. He sent it back and noting that it would not fit their production. If you've ever examined a Swiss K31 striker spring you would see the problem from Wolff's perspective. Only the Swiss would build a simple striker spring like its a precision watch.

Anyway, at his request, I just sent a Priority Mail package off to him with the 3 pak of XD springs that did not work and one of my extra full size XD 45 mags. He will examine it, take measurements and return it to me. Apparently, when manufacturers change followers, springs and such, they do not call and let Wolff know.

I got the impression they would make adjustments soon and get into production. I think the XD is a hot seller and they want to offer springs for it. This will be especially true if Springfield made adjustments so that the same spring is used in the 13 and 10 round full size mag. That would open up a large market for the same spring. Next, I might offer him one of my 10 round COMPACT mags to examine.

I'll keep y'all posted.

Cool - very generous of you to offer loaning one of your mags, even with the promise of free springs!
