Unfortunately, the springs that Wolff sells are NOT for the the ten round XD Compact .45 magazines. I spoke with a tech rep just the other day regarding this issue and he confirmed that the springs they have available for the XD .45 magazines are NOT for the ten round compact (short) magazines.

Anywhere else? Like I said earlier, someone makes them for Springfield - they gotta come from somewhere!

I am assumeing that Wolfe has spring for the 10 round Limited Capacity mag, if so. It is entirely possible that the mag spring for the limited capacity 10 round California mag will fit the 10 round Compact mag.. I supplied the measurements for the 10 round compact spring: The 10 round Compact mag spring is 5.15" long with a wire dia. of .053". If someone has the measurements for a limited capacity spring you can determine if they are the same. The other option is to ask Wolfe to measure the spring and compare it to the measurements I provided, they are very good about providing that kind of information to you.

Well, I have full size 10rd XD-45 magazines (California compliant) and compact 10rd XD-45 magazines. I disassembled one of each. I did not measure them, but I did put them side by side and matched them loop for loop. They appear identical except the full size 10rd spring is one complete loop longer. I would imagine that if you got some Wolff springs and clipped one loop off, you would be close. But that's just a guess.
FWIW.

Can you try compressing them by hand and tell us if you feel any difference? I am going to guess that they are the same, and one is just made shorter. But if they happen to respond to compression differently then we know there is a gauge or tempering difference (I doubt it).

Actually, the springs (diameter of wire, shape and color) appear to be the same, except for the length, as I noted above. When installed, the 10rd compact magazine feels a little stiffer, but that could just because of the actualy difference in length of the magazine body. FWIW

Bad news, sports fans. Just got off the blower with Wolff. Spoke with a 'tech support guy' (obviously knew what he was doing) and we actually measured the loop that goes into the follower. The springs that Wolff uses are also used in the Beretta, and they won't work here. Won't fit into the follower as the follower loop end is a lot wider on the Wolff spring. I suppose you could grab a pair of pliers and make it work, but I dunno.

Mr Denverdick - your suggestion is interesting. Have you tried using/shooting your existing 10 round Kalifornia spring in the Compact mag? If so, what was your experience? Did the rounds feed ok?

Thanks

Paul

Well, I have a 3 pak of Wolff springs on their way (should be here tomorrow) for my full size 10 rd California mags. Wolff's website and the Wolff rep I spoke to said that the springs are correct for the .45 full size 10 rd mag. I'll know soon. The follower on my full size mags looked like the follower on my compact mags. I'm going to look again in a day or so.

EDIT: Okay, I took a hard look at both the 10rd Compact spring and the Full Size 10rd spring last night. First, the Compact spring is a little heavier guage wire. Second, the Compact spring is almost exactly one (1) loop shorter. The mag followers in both mags appear identical. The top loop of the spring that fits in the follower of both are the same, except as mentioned above, the wire gauge is different. HTH

Perkelp is absolutely correct. I just received my Wolff 3 pak in the mail and they do not fit. I can't imagine what the folks at Wolff are thinking. I am a longtime Wolff customer and wrote them a very sharp e-mail just a few minutes ago. I am very disappointed in Wolff over this situation. Trust me, the fit is "not even close!" If they send me a call tag (return label) so I don't have to pay shipping back to them and credit my VISA card, well I might forgive them.

Oh, I ordered springs for other pistols, too. They were, as usual, fine.
