New XD45 Compact
Just today I picked up my new XD45C. It's my first XD, and I can't wait to take it out to the range. ( It's not my first Springfield, though, as I have a mil-spec 1911 from Springfield. )
Anyway, now for my question. Included in the box with the pistol and all the XD Gear is a small white envelope which is marked on the outside with the model of the pistol, the serial number, Springfield's FFL #, and a few other bits of information. Inside the envelope is a spent .45 brass shell casing. In all the pistols I've purchased over the years from various manufacturers, ( including Springfield ), I've never before had an envelope like this included. What's the story with this envelope? Thanks for any insight you can provide ... |

It's a state requirement for some states.
For example, maryland: http://www.sweetliberty.org/issues/guns/marylandlaw.htm
