Hogue grips

Anybody put those rubber Hogue grips on their XD? I'd like a little something for my finger to kind of settle into a la the grip on my Glock 22.

First thing I did after firing my XD 45c was purchase a Hogue 17000 slip-on. Requires minor trimming (I use cuticle scissors), and totally helped me! Highly recommend.

Has anyone tried both the Pachmayr and the Hogue? The price is the same at PistolGear. I'm curious if one is measurably better than the other.

I've had both. The Pachmayr is on my XD right now and I love it. The material feels thicker and seems to have more of a cushion to it. The main reasons I ditched the Hogue were (1) the material seemed thin to me and (2) the grip tore. The latter I attribute to the way I cut it for the safety. I would have thrown another Hogue on there, but wanted to try out the Pachmayr and ended up liking it quite a bit. One of the major difference, though, is that the Hogue has palm swells whereas the Pachmayr does not.

I was told to never install slip-on grips by an instructor.
When asked why, he pulled out a Glock w/ hoage slip-on grips and and asked me to hold it in his face.

Then in one move he grabbed the gun and rotated it around and 'shot' me.
I was still holding onto the rubber grips, the gun just spun inside the slip-ons.
I had no time to react.

FWIW.

Doooh, that'll ruin your day! Then again if a bad guy gets that close (alive) there are probably going to be issues either way.

I agree, it's just another way someone with a lot of training can kill you before you can blink.

my hogues and pachies both tore and slipped on my XD45 Service. I ended up just going to board tape. No probs now.

Well ... thanks everybody for the input. I wonder if Springfield would ever follow Glocks example and put some finger grooves into the grip? I don't know why I am to excited about this .... shot my XD for the first time today in a month and at 20 yards I was shooting homemade human size torso targets center mass with ease .... 4-5 inch groups. Man I love this pistol, it's accurate even when I'm not!!!
