XD .45 doesn't like hollowpoints??

I have an XD .45 Compact tactical. I've put about 800 rounds through it in 3 weeks. However i've had 2 ftf with JHP rounds. To date i've only tried Hornady 45 ACP+P 200 GR HP/XTP, and 165 gr Hydrashocks. both jammed on the 3rd round. How can i tell if it's the ammo, magazine, or gun? Do I just need to find different brand of ammunition, or should I contact springfield? How many different JHP's did you guys try before finding a reliable brand? Thanks.

What is your maintenance routine with the gun?

I clean it after every time I shoot. The first jam was on the 3rd round of the day. The second one (different day) was probably round 100 or so. I've only shot 79 hollow points total but had one jam per every other box.

How dare you suggest the XD-45 is anything but 100% reliable with every brand of ammo ever made.

Anyhow....do you mark your magazines? I have four mags for my XD-45 and each is marked to identify to discover issues and to rotate them. I have weeded out bad mags in other guns doing this....Seems some mags just won't properly feed some ammo.

Is it only with one magazine? I would mark your magazines then go shoot.

I believe it was with the 13 rounder each time. (i only have the 2 factory mags). Does the warranty cover magazines at all? How many rounds do you shoot before you retire a mag?

Sometimes magazines do strange things, pull the magazine apart make sure the spring is set to push the FWD end of the follower up. Clean it out real well with some Butch's bore shine. Lightly lube, re-assemble and see how she does. I received a magazine that had a spring installed upside down. Easy fix. Also, sometimes chambers are tight on new guns, when it doesn't feed all the way give her a hard slap on the bottom of the magazine and it should return the weapon to full battery. This will polish any tight or rough spots out of the chamber and feed ramp. Many people refer to this as "breaking it in" Good luck with your XD.

+1 For Golden Sabres. I reload my own .45 ACP and I exclusively use the Golden Sabre 230 grain JHPs.

I have so far had NO fail to feed with ANY hollow point I have used. The only FTF I have had was with some WWB and Blazer Brass and even then, it was only a couple of times and was likely due to "limp wristing" the gun.
