Wolf .45 Steel ammo in a XD45C

Normally I don't shoot Wold in my pistols but a buddy bought 500 rounds of the stuff and his Kimber did not like it (yea he was planning on using Wolf in a Kimber)

Anyway he gave me almost 500 rounds and I decided to shoot it one day at the range. It was sort of a small torture test.

Almost 500 rounds and not one issue -- It was flawless and accurate.

Anyone have a GOOD reason I should not just go out and buy some of this crap as range ammo?

Some say steel cased ammo may wear the chaimber... THat should be a load of bunk, as the chaimber is a much harder steel. The real issue with the ammo is that not all guns run the steel stuff well...All of my guns shoot it just fine.

So lets assume it does. Lets guess after 10000 rounds. I saved $1000 on the ammo and I could either just buy a new gun or get a replacement barrel and still be ahead of the game.

I have put several thousand rounds of WOLF through my XD45. I have never had a singel malfunction with it. I have noticed it shoots cleaner and more accurate in my .45 than WWB. Just clean yout gun when you are done and you should have no issues as long as your gun feeds and ejects it well.

I have had no issues shooting Wolf in any of my firearms. I shoot the .45 ammo in my XD and two 1911s for plinking rounds.

About Kimbers.

How come every person I've ever seen with a Kimber has reliablity issues, yet everyone is ga-ga over them?

Don't give me the "it's a tightly made, accurate gun'" line, I have a Series 80 Colt Gold Cup .45ACP that is easily as accurate as any Kimber and it never jams with any rounds including light reloads with soft lead bullets -- and never did, even right out of the box.

Hell, the Sig P229 is as accurate as the Kimbers and I have one that has never failed once, not once.

I don't get the Kimber facination. It's like buying a Harley Davidson; all of my friends who got one are in the shop (under warranty) every 3-4 months with yet another failure.

Rant off.

I have an early issue Kimber Pro Carry in stainless and have never had an issue with it. In fact, I qualified with it while using WOLF 230g FMJ. (the old man gave me a hard time for using it in my 1911, saying i should never use it)
This Kimber is the most accurate .45 out of the box that I've ever owned, (and I've owned several Sigs)
I'm not picking a fight, just telling you my factual experience. There is some speculation that Kimber has slacked off of their quality control as the years have passed by, thus a good reason that mine works perfect.

I've also fired about 450 round of the WOLF steel cased ammo through both my XD45 Compacts as well as a 4" Service without any issues at all.

If it's cheaper, i'd say buy some up. Lately I've found Brass by Fiocchi and Blazer Brass to be a little cheaper than WOLF so I've stuck to it. Wouldn't hesitate to gobble up some more WOLF though.

The last class I took there were 2 Kimbers. Both had several malfunctions. I also don't understand the fascination with such a high priced, yet unreliable gun.

Before I pay $1500 for a Kimber I get a 9mm can for my M9 and my future 9mm AR and also have enough left over for a .223 can.

but back on topic --- I'm glad to here others are having no issues with Wolf. I think I'm going to buy a couple K's of it if it turns out to be much cheaper than the brass stuff.

The Kimber guys in my classes have issues, for sure.

These are newly manufactured guns, in the past 2-3 years.

The shooters were always inexperienced, probably because someone with experience would have gotten their guns fixed already.

Had a lady w/ a Glock 9mm that kept jamming, the instructor took it apart right in the middle of the class.... it had NEVER been cleaned, too bad I didn't have a camera. 5 minutes w/ some spray cleaner and CLP and it fired 100% the rest of the time.
