Leather OWB holsters for 45 Service.

I asked this quesion in another thread(s) but thought I'd dedicate a thread to it so I can have a central place to see suggestions.

I want a good leather belt holster for my 45 Service. I need it for fishing and I can't get into my CCW class until the end of August anyway.

Suggestions for pistol fit, function and comfort?

I'd want it to ride high and tight.

I've been looking at the DeSanti Speed Scabbard. How do the Don Humes fit the pistol?

Any others?

Thanks!

I use a FIST #12 Basic for my XD-40 Service and really like it. I think next time I'm going to get a FIST #2 Easy On/Off hybrid (leather outside, kydex inside) for convenience and a faster draw.

I use a Galco Fletch. Same as the concealable but with a thumb break. Great holster.

BlackHawk Serpa

I have several holsters as do many people who carry. They just seem to collect all by themselves. For fishing or hiking I really like the Blackhawk Serpa holster. I see it as perfect fit, strong and solid retention but very fast and natural to draw from if you were to ever need to do so.

Have a great time fishing and good luck with your CCW course.

It is not leather but...

I love these for fishing/hiking:

There are easy to take on and off and very secure. I have used them with my Glock 20 and it is a great holster. I just got one for my XD 45 and have not had a chance to use it yet.

Hope this helps you out.

Matt

Galcos look like really nice holsters. I like the Silhouette and Fletch. Is the open-muzzle design of the Silhouette just a personal preference point or is there an advantage to it? Diasadvantage?

I really liked my Crossbreed Ranger OWB holster when I carried my XD. Rides high and tight, easy one-hand reholster, comfortable. Now that I carry 1911s, I still use the Ranger OWB when I can, clothes permitting.
