Colorful .45s

I'm in the market for another XD45...I already own a 4" compact. This time I would like to get a 5" compact. My 4" is all black, and I have a bi-tone 9mm 4" as well.

So...I was thinking about doing something different. I have seen the Dark Earth in person, but not the OD green. I really need to find one of those to judge it up.

Anyways, I took the XD catalog and did a few quick photochops. Check this out...

What's the "purpose" for this gun? Range? Competition? Home Defense?

I've Got One of Those...

Mine is a XD45 Tactical, with a Dark Earth frame and a stainless slide.

Do you have some pics, guncrazy? Did you have to switch the slide from another XD, or could you custom order that frame/slide combo through your dealer?

This gun will be multi-purpose. It will be carried daily (unloaded, due to Illinois restrictions). I'll also keep it around for home defense. I don't compete anymore, but I'll definitely be taking this to the range

I have seen the OD in person with a black slide. It's a good looking pistol if you like that look. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I have a XD .357 sig in the OD with the black slide and can tell you it just looks mean as heck. It just screams strength. As I recently seen though, beauty is in the eye of the shooter.

Well if it were me I would go with a 5" Full size in OD. My reasoning is if you want a 5" Compact just slide the upper on to your compact frame or if you want a 4" Full size you have one that is OD green. I asked yesterday if SA sales just uppers and I was told no, I have been thinking about a similar purchase in the future. Or if you decide you like black get the fullsize Bi-Tone and you can still swap lowers and uppers.
Good Luck and Be Safe!

For a while, I had been thinking of buying an XD45 in OD. I had only seen that color in a photo of it on a website somewhere. This afternoon, I finally got to see an OD pistol in hand. I decided that I didn't like it as much as I had thought...

That's the thing -- I haven't been able to see any OD XDs in person. I'm just going by pictures on the springfield site and stuff. I'll have to look for some more pics from OD owners.
