XD-45 tac in a Maxpedition Colossus?...
Greetings all, I am getting close to being able to purchase my first XD. Of course it will be a 5" .45acp, hopefully in bi-tone. I am also currently looking at the Maxpedition Colossus bag, and am wondering if it will fit into it's CCW pouch. Anybody have both of these and can comment and/or post a pic?
Thank you in advance, Mongo |

Hi Mongo. I happen to own both but I don't have a camera
BTW, I've only just bought the XD Tac and have only shot it twice (about 200 rounds) but I am thrilled with it. It handles very well and makes me feel like it's only my skills that need improving. |

First up when did Maxpedition come out with that Colossus? Must have been recently. I have a Versipack Jumbo and love it but the larger Colossus would have fit me even better.
None-the-less the CCW pocket on the Jumbo is about the same size if not slightly wider than the CCW zipper pocket of the Colossus and I found that drawing my XD-40 Sevice was a bit tight. Doable but a bit tighter than I liked. Now my Kahr CW9 works very nice in there but its a much smaller and thinner gun. Maxpedition gear is top notch IMHO. I have both the Jumbo and there Tactical Attache and both have served me well. Rambling mcb |

The Colossus has only been out about a month now.
Answering this post earlier made me realize that I had not really experimented enough with the holster position. I cut off the top half of the holster strap and moved it up in the bag. Now the XD rides higher and is easier to draw. It also allows the mags to not have to be stuffed in so deep. I guess now Mongo I owe you a thank you. |

I got the monsoon for a few dollars more and love it! You may want to check it out. It's larger, holds more stuff (got it in khaki)
i dealt with Sheryl she was very helpful but can be difficult to understand at times with her accent. Hope this helps. MAXPEDITION P.O. Box 5008 Palos Verdes, CA 90274 PH: 1-310-768-0098, Ext. 112 FAX: 1-310-515-5950 sheryl@maxpedition.com www.maxpedition.com |
