Perps more scared of shiny guns huh? Time to get out the armorall and give the XD a bath...
In all seriousness, a gun is a gun is a gun. If you're pointing a gun at me (I don't care if it's pink) and the fact that it is a gun is apparent then I'm going to pause for a minute. Not because it is shiny, but because it has the potential to aid the person holding it in ending my life! Color not important. Going BOOM every time very important.

To tell you the truth the only difference color makes is I find black or blued guns are easier to keep clean. They probably aren't but imbedded dirt doesn't show as much. When I think of the revolvers I have had, I know getting the front of the cylinder clean was much harder on the Stainless Steel guns. Stainless has different wear characteristics than Carbon Steel and you have to decide if that is worth more money to you, but they will still shoot the same. To me different colors is purely a marketing effort and I have paid extra for a pair of Cold Case Hardened revolvers cause they looked more authentic.

I prefer my guns in a black finish....makes them look thinner.

Hey, I'd have no problem with a pink gun, don't like that shade at all but cool none the less. So far all my guns that actually see active use are black. My bushmaster isn't really used for much other than to remind guests of what they'll be up against if they try to break into my studio.
