I doesn't matter unless it is your barbeque gun, then it has to be chrome and shinny with pearl grips.

I had intended to buy a black one when I went to the gunshop, but the owner was having trouble moving one that was flat dark earth tone, apparently no one liked the color. He offered me a heck of a discounted price so that he could move it, and since color really didn't matter, I bought it.
Moral of the story, go there with an open mind and you might save a little money. BB |

I look at it like this, why the heck do I need it to look like a military issue for the desert or forrest? I also remember the guys that showed up for boot camp with shaved heads and camos on - man did they get the crap kicked out of them. I never wanted to be a 'wannabe" after that..

A friend of mine has 2 XD9s; the black/black one is his carry piece, and the OD/black one is his training gun. He knows at a glance which one is loaded with JHPs, and which one is stuffed with FMJ training ammo. He's a full-time firearms instructor (lucky sonuvagun!) so both guns get carried every day.

I have a real world story to show you the importance. I was staying with a friend of mine (who first introduced me to xd's) at his condo and we had our xd's on the nightstand between our beds. He had his 4" service black and I had my 5" stainless. With the lights turned out you couldn't see his gun from the door but mine was as clear as day. That can be good as you could easily find your gun at night but do you want other people seeing it?

TFO sights will take care of that issue. Obviously we have failed to pass on some of our American heritage. Only bad guys carried black guns and the really good guys had Chrome guns with silver bullets. We all know it is the color of the bullets that really matters. Nickle ones are always better, that's why they cost more but the ultimate are real Silver cause the Lone Ranger never missed and you could load about 20 at a time is a six gun.

Well, I've been shopping on the various gun sale sites for an XD-45 "deal" and, frankly, I read the ads "right to left", meaning I'm looking at the selling price first.
Color is of no real consideration to me in this search....... |
