Discoloring on slide from wiping with a silicone cloth

I have a silicone cloth I wipe down my guns with. Well......I haven't even fired my new XD and, when I started to wipe it because some touched the slide, the finish was getting discolored. What is up with that? I am very pissed and wonder if this is normal? I am ready to take this thing back.

I routinely wipe down my XDs with a silicone cloth and have never had a problem.

I always use a silicone cloth

I wipe my XD's down with a silicone cloth all the time with no problem. What you are probably seeing is the protective silicone coating being applied as you wipe the firearm down. Same thing happens to mine every time, I wouldn't worry sounds like things are normal.

+1 on the silicone cloth. Use it frequently only makes the guns a little darker.

Basically the same principle as putting Armor-All on your tires. It looks spiffy (IMO) and offers some corrosion protection as long as you don't handle it (like storage in a safe).

Tell us is it darker? Lighter?? Post some pics. Most people that work at fun shops don't know their ass from a hole in the ground
