45c or 40sc?
I really just need someone to tell me what to do. I keep going back and forth between a 45 compact and a 40 subcompact. The caliber has nothing to do with my indecision, it is more about size. I own a 4 inch 40 xd but would like something with a shorter grip to carry concealed. Anyone have both of these guns that can guide me? If I was to go with the subcompact I might consider the 9mm too for financial purposes. Geez, decisions decisions.

I was in your same position except I did not already have a XD40, I could not make up my mind and kept going back and fourth so I decided to get both but changed to the 9mm SC. If I were you I might have to get the 40 SC just for the convenience of ammo.

The .45 will be thicker

I've added the Pierce extensions to the SC. I just couldn't get a comfortable grip without them. Size wise, they carry about the same. The Pierce extensions make the SC almost exactly the same height as the C. I don't notice the extra barrel length IWB nor the slight extra width. The C is a little heavier and I do notice that depending on which pants I'm wearing. I bought the SC first and really got comfortable with it. Right after I bought the C I thought I made a mistake because I shot the SC much better. Time and technique have changed that. I still prefer the feel of the SC. If I could own only one, it would be the C. But if I already had a Service 40 I'd probably go with the 40SC. FWIW I really don't care for either pistol with the extended mags. The grip just feels funky to me when the slide cycles.

I'd go 45c.... I find the 40SC to be unpleasant to shoot and I'm not wild about the .40 S&W anyway.

I have the 40sc, I am very happy with it. Shoots great and conceals well.
From every comparison I have seen, the 45compact would conceal just as well as the SC with the pearce, and it has the added advantages of being a 45ACP and having a longer more stable slide/sight radius. If the 45c had been available when I bought my 40sc, I would have probably chosen it instead.

you are going to hate yourself if you dont get the 45 compact, i was in your same shoes. i couldnt decide between the 9 and the 40sc, and i was dead set on one of those two. i shot the 9sc and didnt like it at all, and the 40 would only be worse. it really wasnt too accurate but i did like the 16 rounds, but not a fan of the 9mm. and a box of 100 rounds for 12 bux cant beat that. but then i came on this website and read all about the 45 acp compact and fell in love, i went to a dealer and got to hold one, and it was love at first feel-up. i bought it got it in a week ago and it is awesome. i love it, get it!!!

You already have the .40svc. Get the .40sc and you won't have to stockpile another caliber.

Or you could just do a grip chop on your service & have a 40c. I was leaning that a way, until the 45c came out. I really prefer the feel & sight radius of the 4" barrel over the 3" sc.
Then I decided why have a 9+1 XD40SWsc when I could have a 10+1 of 45acp in the XD45c, which came with the 4" barrel I preferred. |

I suggest you keep the 45C and try a Carry Holster named Thunderwear for concealed carry then you could carry You're 45C 4" You may not like the holster but can bring it up on You're Computer to read up on it. Good Luck HC |
