Thanks for the input guys, I believe the XD Compact it is. I have had good results with my Kahr, but in looking at the Kahr forums, it seems they have to go back to the factory an awful lot. No one says that about the XD. I think in the long run I will be happier with the XD anyway, as I have shot 1911's for 30 years, and the XD Compact is the same concept as the Commander.

Thanks for the help!

I got it! Last night after work, I went to the shop and picked it up...and I love it. I think that the Compact grip fits me better anyway, the Service had too much grip sticking under my hand. When I got home from the gunshop, there was a Wilderness 5 stitch instructors belt waiting for me. I ordered it on Sunday night and by Friday it was here...quick service.

I put the Compact into it's Blade Tech IWB holster, with the Instructor belt, and under a T-shirt it is un-noticable. Monday night it is off to the range to break it in. Thanks for the help guys!

I'm sorry I didn't see your post earlier as I would have told you to keep the Service and buy a Compact Tactical which would give you basically 4 guns. By swapping the slide/barrel assemblys you can have a full size Service and Tactical and a Compact 4" and 5".

Sorry
