light primer strikes???
My XD45 5" tac has about 2500 rounds through it and the other day a friend and I were at the range for some practice and after a few mags I asked him if he would like to try my XD and when he tried to fire it he got nothing but light primer stikes and after the fourth in a row I assumed that something had broken in the gun. I then reloaded the rounds that he had ejected with the light dimples on the primers and they ALL fired for me??? As strange as that is after I fired another couple mags with no problems I let him try the gun again and the same thing happened light strikes and no ignition??? Again I loaded these rounds into the mag and they all fired fine for me. I then let another guy at the next plate rack try the gun and he too could not get it to fire????? My friend who is a retired police captain laughed and said that maybe Springfield had shipped me a prototye smart gun that would only shoot for me.................. When I got home and broke down the gun to clean it everything looked and functioned normally so I have no clue what could have been going on with this and would like to get it corrected before the next match. anyone have any idea what could be causing this condition??? Thanks for any help.

My little DA only Keltec does that if someone doesn't let the trigger reset all the way out but I have never heard of that on an XD.

I had this issue with my 45 tac. It was with CCI primers I was reloading with. I have since switched back to Winchester primers and have had no issues.
Someone mentioned that it can be an issue with striker fired pistols.

IF the primers aren't seated deeply enough, the first strike will just seat the primer; the second strike will fire it.
On the other hand, if you have oil or something else that's not supposed to be in the striker channel, then you can also get light strikes. |
