Thumbs up New Guy

Hello all...

I have been lurking around here for a few days...I have been a member of glocktalk and ak-47.net for several years. I really did not know much about the XD until a few days ago. I was in the market for another glock(I am a huge fan of their 9mms), I was hunting for a .45acp. I have never liked the grip of the 21 even the new SF. I was told about the XD and it was love at 1st grip. I cannot get over how the trigger is so much better than my 17 and 26 (on the XD). Long story short I just wanted to say hi and I can't wait to pick up my XD45 5" tac on thursday (72 hours wait).

Does anyone have a pic of the tac with a threaded barrel? also is there not any OD's out there...I looked for a few days and no luck...

Regards,

JayaK

I also wanted to state that I picked this gun over the USP Tac. I have rented the USP tac several times and enjoyed shooting it, but the look, feel, etc of the XD won me over and how can I complain about spending half as much on the gun?!?! Dry firing I felt like the trigger was better on the XD.... only actual shooting will tell. I also hate the mag release on the USP.

Who makes a threaded barrel for these guns? Everything I see says semi-drop in....what the hell does that mean?

Thanks

JayAK

Welcome from PA...semi drop-in means it should fit without any modification or fitting, but they're not guaranteeing that.

Welcome Jay from a fellow nubee...

I'm glad you fell in love with the XD. Me, too. I'm a bonafide 1911 lover but I tried an XD9 and shot my buddy's XD40 a lot so went with what I know and reload being the XD45. Just came on the door so I can't wait to get her to the range and try her out. Not looking forward to shooting a new gun. Always wondering if they are going to jam or do something weird until they get some wear on them. But the XD's of other owners here seem to be great the first time out, so....

Like Medi, I am a 1911 guy. I've really never cozyed up to the Glock platform, triggers are crap, grip angle is all wrong for me (maybe too many 1911 rounds down range) but when I picked up the XDTAC, had to have one. I've only got about 200rds through it but it's definetly a keeper. Trigger & grip are much better than any Glock to me. Accuracy is very close to my BarSto bbl. 1911. Eventually parts, holsters, etc. will start showing up & then it will be perfect.

Welcome as well.I too carry my service 45 and love it. Ive had it for about 4months and have put about 700 rounds through it and only had 2 jams. Both were firing blazer brass ammo, but for $9.50 a box im not complaining. Hope you love it as most of us w/the 45's or xd period for that matter do.
