Yes, perhaps I should buy both... but I'll have to sell something of value in order to pull-off that stunt. I have some seldom-used camera lenses that might do the trick. You own both the 4" and 5" in .45?

Btw, nice holster! I've heard of Kramer, but let's be honest my 9mm didn't deserve such a nice rig.
I too own a 45ACP Service and Compact Tactical and it is the only way to go, you just switch out the barrel/slide assembly for what ever you are going to be doing. I have TFOs on the 4" and 3 Dot on the tactical. One other option may be to buy a 5" aftermarket barrel like those from Pistol Gear http://www.pistolgear.com/proddetail.php?prod=00PGC as long as it retains the end diameter back at least an inch from the end. It would look pretty awsome with a 4" slide and an inch of barrel out the end. You could also go for the EFK Firedragon ported barrel https://www.efkfiredragon.com/index.php or maybe a threaded barrel from Bar-Sto http://www.barsto.com/category_main.cfm?ID=X45&cco=92 with a compensator. The possibilities are endless it only takes money how much change do you have laying around?

Just an update: Looks like I'm keeping the 4" compact. No way I'm exchanging this weapon (unfired) at a 20% loss.

Hate to sound like I'm complaining, no doubt I'll enjoy the gun, it's just one of those things. Moral of the story... always go with your initial intincts.

Some day I might pick up the 5" tactical (or 5" drop-in bbl) and have my cake and eat it too.

I have both. The Tactical is better. Hands down. For what ever reason I shoot it a lot more accurately. I bought the four inch for concealed carry, but and I have carried it, but I have so much confidence in the Tactical .45 that is what I carry. I carry in an OWB holster with a untucked shirt covering it. I forget the make of the holster. As soon as Milt Sparks comes out with a Versa-Max II for the XD, I will be buying one.

I have a .45ACP tactical and it is clearly the easiest shooting, most accurate defensive gun I own (My Colt Goldcup .45ACP National Match is more accurate but duh).

PA Gunner welcome to the forum. Be comfortable with the 4". I have the 4" compact .45 and love it. I too looked at the 5" Tactical, but went with the 4" deciding it would be better to carry. My next purchase is going to be a 9mm Tactical for lots of range time!!!

Man that is a sweet-looking weapon you've got there. Congrats!

I hear what you're saying about not selling one to get another, but I keep asking myself why I would need both a 4" and 5" in the same caliber? There are so many guns on my "buy" list, I'm not sure I can justify owning both.

I'm not doing anything unitl I'm 100% sure.

Just buy a full size Tactical and you can swap the barrel/slide assemblies back an forth between the two. I had a 4" Service and bought the Compact Tactical so now I have the 4" barrel and slide on the Compact frame for cancealment and the Full Size frame with the Tactical.

I so like the way you think. My wife, on the other hand, is going to hate you.
