Just an update: Looks like I'm keeping the 4" compact. No way I'm exchanging this weapon (unfired) at a 20% loss.
Hate to sound like I'm complaining, no doubt I'll enjoy the gun, it's just one of those things. Moral of the story... always go with your initial intincts. Some day I might pick up the 5" tactical (or 5" drop-in bbl) and have my cake and eat it too.

I have both. The Tactical is better. Hands down. For what ever reason I shoot it a lot more accurately. I bought the four inch for concealed carry, but and I have carried it, but I have so much confidence in the Tactical .45 that is what I carry. I carry in an OWB holster with a untucked shirt covering it. I forget the make of the holster. As soon as Milt Sparks comes out with a Versa-Max II for the XD, I will be buying one.

I have a .45ACP tactical and it is clearly the easiest shooting, most accurate defensive gun I own (My Colt Goldcup .45ACP National Match is more accurate but duh).

Man that is a sweet-looking weapon you've got there. Congrats! I hear what you're saying about not selling one to get another, but I keep asking myself why I would need both a 4" and 5" in the same caliber? There are so many guns on my "buy" list, I'm not sure I can justify owning both. I'm not doing anything unitl I'm 100% sure.

Just buy a full size Tactical and you can swap the barrel/slide assemblies back an forth between the two. I had a 4" Service and bought the Compact Tactical so now I have the 4" barrel and slide on the Compact frame for cancealment and the Full Size frame with the Tactical.
