As long as the war is going on and China and India continue to buy up raw materials there will be a shortage of all types of ammo.

I have had a very hard time finding Large Pistol standard primers to reload with. I have been told by several places in the area that they have been on back order for months. I was also told that they were all going for the manufacture of ammo and there wasn't anything left to sell as reloading components.

Find that somewhat hard to believe as I don't see the military using 45s in the GWOT to that degree but maybe so.

At any rate, not sure if that is the true reason however, I have had a very hard time finding Large Pistol Standard primers so something is impacting the supply.

Why would/is .45ACP be so hard to get? I thought most military handguns and subs were 9mm?

Only the 1911 .45ACP and the M3 "Grease Gun" submachine gun were chambered in .45ACP when I was in the military.

Most LE departments are either 9mm or .40S&W??

Enlighten me please

I got news for you, finding large pistol primers for the 45 ACP has been a chore and most places are back ordered. I was told by more than one place that all the primers being manufactured were pretty much going into factory loaded ammo. Not sure if that is true and I can’t see the U.S. military using that much 45 ACP on the GWOT.

Something however is making primers hard to come by so when I do find them I am buying as much as I can. Brass and bullets components are still pretty widely available even though the price has gone up considerably over the past year or so.

I just bought 200 rounds of Winchester .45 last night at Walmart for $61 with tax.

The local Walmart has Blazer Brass and WWB but both have seen price increases. Blazer is up $1 per box of 50 to $11.97 before tax. I'm so glad I can write off 100 rounds per month on my taxes, but 100 rounds isn't much.

I wish I could write off ammo...

I guess the shortage hasn't come my way yet. Everywhere I go I see cases and cases of ammo. Primers are a little harder to come by but the local shop here has 'em.
