Smile XD-45 compact Qualification

I have been waiting for several months to check out my XD-.45 compact. There were about 50 rounds through it before yesterday. The first 20 or so shot low, then settled in.

Many of you may not know, but HB-218 passed in 2004 and signed by the president allows any retired LEO in good standing to carry concealed in any state. One only be in good standing and attend a four hour class and qualify. There is some paperwork involved and some bugs to work out.

Anyway, we fired a 48yd. qualification from 3 to 15yds. Emphasis was on accuracy and speed. About 1/3 was with weak hand and one hand. We shot in line with regular sworn officers.

The XD performed great, handled well and no malfunctions. Of all the pistols I have used, this is the best so far. Perceived recoil was mild.

Love those XD converts.

If only SA could do something with the factory trigger pull. That's my only complaint with them. Of the 3 I own, all 3 had to be sent out for a trigger job to please me.
But then again, I grew up with the 1911, so I'm used to a nice, crisp SA trigger.
