holster choice

I am fairly new to ccw and Ive seen on here alot of people like the crossbreed supertuck I was wondering if the kydex part causes wear marks where it contacts the gun I carried a bersa in a fobus paddle for about a year with obvious wear marks

Here's my choice, Don Hume IWB very comfortable, hard to reholster after you draw it, but nice to say the least.

holster wear on a carry gun is inevitible. Just learn to live with it and think of them as charater marks.

If you can't deal with holster wear maybe a safe is a better place for your firearm.

Pretty much what I was thinking

It would not be all that hard to fix the reholster problem. I would bet that a 1" X 3 1/2" strip of 5-7 oz. veg-tan leather would do the trick. You would wet the leather and "form" it around a block of wood a bit wider than the XD (to make allowance for the thickness of the holster itself). You could use a little padding and the XD itself as the form if you wish. Just don't let the wet leather contact the actual gun surface as it will take several hours for it to dry. Encase the XD in a plastic bag or something similar.

Let the leather dry on the form. When it dries the leather will look like a J that will wrap around the front and side of the holster mating up with the piece holding the clip.

The idea is to have the leather wrap around the top of the holster and stiffen it so it is harder for it to collapse. You would take a punch or an awl and make holes and then sew it onto the holster with some heavy waxed thread. You can get everything you need at Tandy. A shoemaker with an old Singer 29 class sewing machine could sew it for you if you prefer having a machine do the stitching.

Looks like the smooth side of the leather is in on this holster or it is all suede... not sure. In either case you can form the leather with the smooth side in so it matches up pretty well with the holster. Nice evening project.

Actually, (I am thinking you are talking about the muzzle part?) it's the trigger guard that gets hung up on the lower part of the opening. It's really not a huge issue since it draws nicely, putting it back is not as crucial. I can just take the holster out and reholster the pistol, then clip it back IWB.

Yeah... I was thinking that you were having a collapse problem and a formed reinforcing band would help. The problem with the trigger guard is totally different. It looks like it is designed to be a very tight fit for retention purposes.

Does anyone make a holster similar to the Galco Jackass rig for the XD 45? Or are any of the ones made for a Glock models similar enough to use?

Exactly, it doesn't slip unless you want it to when needed. Pretty nice actually, draws very smooth and fast. You just have to take your time to get it back in the holster.
