Not Too Crazy About Super Tuck Deluxe

First let me state that the Crossbreed Super Tuck Deluxe is a very well made, good quality holster, but I cannot figure how you guys that use this holster for an XD 45 Service. I have tried it and it looks like I have a gun in my pants. The XD 45 is a huge firearm and I don't see how anyone can conceal one in a IWB type holster and have it not print. Am I not using it right or what? I am thinking of getting rid of it and sticking with a OWB holster or maybe looking at a MOB type.

I have read where some of you even carry an XD Tactical in one of these things. How do you do it?

You have to choose the right firearm for your body type. Even with the worlds greatest holster, some guns simply cannot be concealed on certain people.

The XD45 is a full size pistol, you can help it out a lot by getting the short butt compact (the butt does most of the "printing"), but it will never conceal under light clothing like all the sub-compacts: 9 & 40 3" XDs Sub-Compact, G26/27, and Kahr PMs e.g. and for that reason I prefer them for CCW. I started CC with a Glock 22 that is the same size as the XD45 Service and soon bought a sub-compact for CC.
As mentioned, a lot depends on your build and clothing and some people aren't as concerned about "printing" as others.
When using an IWB rig, I always wear my shirts untucked so they cover a lot and any printing could be attributed to a cell phone on my belt or something. Some of this depends on how casual the clothing you wear when carrying. T-shirts, Hawaiian shirts, & golf shirts work okay. In cold weather coats, jackets, or vests really help. I use a real gun belt (stiffer than normal belts) so it holds the pistol well. The nice thing about a IWB rig is that the bottom of the barrel doesn't show if things like your shirt or jacket get hiked up bending over or something. If you decide to forego the IWB, make sure you get a pancake style holster that holds the butt in close to the body. Those paddles, like the Fobus that comes with XD Gear and others I've tried, never seem to pull the pistol in enough, even with sub-compacts.
Even if your Service model isn't the optimum for summer CC it still is a great gun to have in your arsenal. Good luck with your search!

At what position do you have the holster? Are you saying this is with your shirt tucked in, or untucked?

BB:

As others have stated, body size probably matters. Bigger guys can pull it off. I'm 6'2" and +/-230# and I carry my xd-45ACP Tactical at the 3:00-4:00 position with my CB-Supertuck regularly. The shirt is one size larger that I normally wear, a fairly large print pattern and I "blouse" the shirt above the belt. It's pretty well hidden. At least no one has said anything, or pointed and run screaming from the building. (either from the gaudy shirt OR noticing the weapon)

HTH.

I stand 6'1" and go about 250. I tried it at the 4:00 position and just was not liking it. Perhaps I just need to try it longer. Didn't it make your pants stick way out?

I just purchased a XD45ACP Service in Bi-tone and also was looking for the right CCW holster. Unlike you guys I am 5'8" and 225lbs. I have been using a Glock 27 for Summer carry but would much prefer to carry my .45. I did not get the Compact model because I would rather have 13+1 then 10+1. Plus when you use the 13+1 mag they give you, it just doesn't look right with the seam in it (extension). It took me forever to find the .45 in Bi-tone. It seems everyone is split on small vs big as far as carry weapons. I used a Galco Fletch for OWB and it holds it tight to the body. Anymore suggestions for IWB for the .45 service?

Thanks,

From the original post, it sounds like the gun prints in the pants.
I'm betting your pants are too tight, or the material is too thin.

I carry a service model XD 45 in a Crossbreed and love it!
I normally wear cargo type pants or carpenter jeans and I like them a bit loose. I didn't need to go up a pants size to carry IWB, but guys who prefer their pants tighter need to jump up a waist size.

I usually carry with a t-shirt tucked in and a loose overshirt. You cannot tell I am carrying at all. I wear mine around 4:00 to 4:30.
I carry comfortably, all day long and I'm about 5'11 and 250lbs.

No doubt, a smaller gun like a Kahr PM series would be easier and lighter to carry, but you lose capacity and accuracy with shorter, smaller guns.
After trying multiple holsters, I would definitely recommend IWB carry.
At first, I didn't like the concept of IWB and only wanted OWB. I've since wised up...

The crossbreed is my favorite so far.

I have an XD 45 compact that I carry daily at my job in a super tuck. I can tuck a shirt in over it and be fine. I put the front cant adjustment down 2 so the butt of my pistol tilts up and runs flush with my back. it doesnt print out the side barely ever because it stays so close to my body

I read your post with interest because I ordered my SuperTuck on 6/10 for my XD45 Service. I know opinions are like a$$holes but I like to read through all the posts to get a feel for the general consensus. Based on what was posted in this thread plus a few others I have read while lurking these past few months, most people are happy with their SuperTuck. I also read a few posts regarding the CTAC.

I currently have a Galco OWB holster but due to the fact that any over shirt I wear hikes up, I am not comfortable with this setup. I have never carried IWB so from what I read, it takes a little getting used to. I am hoping that I won't have the same issue as you describe.
