new XD-do I have a lemon?

I just received a Factory new XD-45 tact. When I try to eject a loaded magazine, the button is very stiff on both sides. I have to adjust my grip and forcefully push the button to eject the magazine. Is this common? Does this ease up with use? It only happens with a loaded magazine. Empty mags are no problem.

By the way...I have been waiting since January 07 for my Bi-tone tac xd-45. I found one on Gunbroker and had to call my local gunshop to tell them I was tired of waiting and was going to order one online. 6 months is ridiculous. Gunbroker is the way to go! Glad to be on this forum!

My XD-45ACP Service takes some effort to release the magazine. The more rounds that are in the magazine the harder it is to drop the mag. A full mag containing 13 rounds is by far the hardest to eject.

That is normal. My new XD45c does that. Try just pushing up on the bottom of the mag to help release the tension from the full mag. The slide is pushing down on the mag creating the tension.

Give it a while. Mine was just as hard as yours. After a few hundred rounds of loading and reloading it seems easier to release the mag both empty and full.

Exactly. After ~~1100 rounds mine is much easier to eject now.

Its fine. I sort of like the idea that a full mag won't
release easily, especially since many holsters don't cover the mag-release button.

It's normal to have stiff spring in those areas. My XD45C is so stiff, I can hardly rack the slide! Guess i have an excuse to go break her in with several hundred rounds.
