Help me justify it to my self!
Ok here's the deal. I have a XD45 tac in Dark Earth that is my brush gun. It rides my thigh any time Im out hunting (Do a lot of predator hunting). I had a Taurus PT145 but couldn't get used to the SA/DA trigger so it got sold! Now Im wanting another ccw gun. Im in love with the 45acp round! I was really close to getting a XD40SC but Im really leaning towards the XD45C now. But having a hard time justifying having two guns that could practically do the same function (except ccw for the tac.). What I mean by this is the XD45C could do both jobs but i love my XD45 Tac. and refuse to part with it. Help! Im in need of justification!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!

Here's the solution...Get the compact and use it for carry and brush defence and sell me your gently used dark earth tactical. I promis to take very good care of it and this will be a nice thing to do for a future XD enthusiast. I cannot afford a new one and would love to get into a used one.
honestly tho...i've never been a fan of "more than you can carry" when i bug out i want all my guns to go with me, ya dig? |

In my mind its a want vs need thing. I would say don't limit yourself to the XD series nor the caliber. Personally I love .45's and have 3 of them now but I also have several other calibers that are fun and serve as CC.
You need to do some more soul searching and researching on other weapons before jumping into making another purchase....of course your getting this advise from somone that has a history of impulse buying.....so take it for what it is worth....

Focus on this... You are so used to the controls on the XD45 tac. Why go with a different pistol for CCW? Wouldn't you want a CCW pistol that has the same exact controls that you have committed to muscle memory? After shooting my XDs for a few sessions, I tend to shoot low with the PT-145 due to the long trigger pull. When I switch between my XDs, there's no adjustment period. Why risk fumbling in a panic situation because your CCW pistol is set up differently? I plink with an XD9, home carry an XD45 and concealed carry an XD40. My hands know exactly what to do when called upon to perform under pressure.

I'm a huge fan of .45 for CCW, but there actually are other rounds that do the job as well. This might be your chance to get the true CCW XD's in 9mm or .40 .. but I'd say 9mm. I say 9mm because then you'll have a mighty fine reason to get a 9mm AR, after that there's all kinds of AR's that you'll have an excuse to get as well.
Then again it's a shame to hear about the PT145.. that's the one I would have recommended. Another compact .45 along the lines of our beloved XD's is the Glock G30. It's 10+1 not overly finicky and really rides well in a CCW role. But I like my 9mm theory better Then again, I too am notorious for the impulse buy

get yourself something bigger if its for self defense in the woods, most pissed off animals of the predator variety are a hell of alot tougher to kill than most pissed off humans. I'd say 10mm atleast, but preferably a .44mag or a .460, i'm saving up for a big assed revolver for my woods gun, then again I use a marlin 45-70 lever gun as my main tool for keeping me on the top of the food chain. unless you are defending yourself against wolves or coyotes or something small, i wouldnt rely on something as small as a .45 the woods is a whole different ball game than the streets
