cci shot
Hey I tried a couple of the cci shot shells in my 45T last week and had no problem. I was testing the patteren from the shot and found that the effective range is only a few feet before the pellets spread out too much tobe very effective : to large a hole in the pattern. however the slide operated without any problem.

im i OVER oil and grease my gun they cycle most of the time however if im up in the mountains i like to keep the oil to a min. also about the needing the jhp or fmj first thats about 1 in a thousand there are two animals i wouldnt shoot with shot shells first and thats a bear and a mountain lion everything else gets a couple of shot shells then if that doesnt do it they get the full loads. i would rather not kill an animal i dont have to, so they way i figure it a shot shell will cure an animals curiosity really fast now if its defending its young or scared thats a different story . i am planning on getting a revolver for snakes and such but i will be brings my xd also. i also carry lead shot.

I used to carry the first round in my 5-shot .38 as shot shell, the rest Hydrashock.
Carrying an auto now, I don't trust the shotshells for cycling. The only snakes around me are on two legs!

I am still using the old Speer shotshells.
They still work fine; my son stepped on this in April.
![]() I haven't bought any to try in the XD45 yet, because I usually carry the revolver when I am in the woods. |

For backcountry carry, a large-caliber revolver is ideal. I wouldn't trust anything smaller than a .44 magnum in bear country.
