Why did you have to manually cycle it?

I'm guessing there isnt enought force with the shotshells to cycle the slide.

you need the new taurus .410 revolver. its the ultimate in rattle snake asskickery.
my first snake I dueled with was taken with a john deer. the second one I faught to the death with a cross bow. although if he wasnt coiled i doubt i would have hit him, but it damn near cut him in half. when it comes to snakes, I prefer to go medieval on thier ass, I really hate snakes after working at a petstore in highschool and getting bit a bunch of times Last edited by limblessbiff; 06-13-2007 at 08:32 AM. |

My question is, Although I understand loading the first 3 shots for snakes (which you correctly assumed ) but what would you have done if you needed those HP's or FMJ's first? I think it would take too much time to manually cycle the first 3 rounds to get to the good stuff, if you really needed them. Just something I was thinking about. Thanks

They have plenty of power. I've shot many through my XD and a few through my SA Ultra Compact 1911 and all cycled fine. I did however have the XD hit a hard primer once and no boom with them. first and only time it ever did not fire. I wonder if that maybe happened to the poster.

Great story!
Snake shot should not harm autos, It's lead shot. However the problem is , they routinely do not have enough Ummph to cycle the slide reliably. Which can complicate things if "something wicked this way comes" Myself, what I do when I'm in the field /hunting in snake country I carry a wheel gun (.38/.357) I keep two in the cylnder. Also, as far as my experience goes don't waste your money on the 22lr snake loads, I have found they are not very effective in dispacthing a rattler quickly. They are also very easy to hand load, with the Speer capsules. I've also seen others homebrew thier own using gas checks. Peace Talon
