Bullets Rattle in clip
Hello,
I am new to the forums just got my 1st XD 3 weeks ago.. i have my CCW here and i was walking the othereday and could hear a slight rattle noise comming from the gun. So when i got home to inspect i can here the bullets toward the bottom of the clip moving back and forth in the clip. I took them out (gold dot HP's) and put them in the 2nd clip and did not hear the rattling.. is rattling normal or not? Thanks

I have never experience that with a magazine. I would take apart the magazine and see what it looks like on the inside. What you may want to do is use the magazine that doesn't rattle and save the rattling one for the range.

Hmmm... I assume from the info at the bottom of your post that you are carrying the XD45 Compact..if so:
1. Which magazine are you using... the shorty 10-rounder, or the spare 13-round magazine with the spacer around the butt? 2. Are you "topping off" (inserting a full magazine, loading the pistol tna then replacing the chambered round in the magazine)?

45 acp 13 rounder rattling
I have the same problem occasionally with my 13 round full size magazine. I have an XD .45 acp compact model and the 10 round compact mags are just fine, but the 13 round full size mag has the weirdest spring in it. About half of the spring is like a regular double stack mag and then about halfway up it starts looking like a single stack mag spring. I've found that, during mag loading, after about round number 10 I start getting rounds that rattle. It doesn't seem to have a feeding problem as the rounds quit rattling after 2 or 3 rounds have been fired. Strange. I'm about to take them apart, clean them out really well (not that they're dirty) and spray a light coat of One Shot lube in there.

Normal depending on the gun. The m&p's are known for this. Ive experienced it with other makes as well.
Also, its technically a magazine, not a clip. |

when i load up my 10 rounder for my XD45 compact with 10 rounds, and load the chamber, i don't get any rattling, but if i drop the mag and replace that round to fill it up, put it back in, it rattles. when the mag is loaded and the XD is in full battery, the rounds in the magazine are pushed down a little bit, maybe that's why it rattles...
i took my 10 rounder apart last night and cleaned it up it still does it. |

Yes the XD45 Compact... i am using the 13 round Magazine... and not i am not topping off i am only carring 13 bullets.. Sorry about the non technical language.. i guess the thing to do is just take it apart and look at it.. i will do that later wheni get off of work... do you think it is still safe to use at the range? it seems to feed just fine?

Mine (13 rounds) do this too. Be mindful of Wolf ammo. It seems to bind my follower up sometimes. With brass cased stuff, I'd say fugiduboutit.
