Accuracy

Does anyone know if there is any difference between 9mm and 45ACP as far as accuracy? I had a guy tell me that the 45ACP is a more accurate bullet than the 9mm. Is there any truth to this?

In my experience the .45 is inherently more accurate. Having said that. I have had some 9mm guns that were extremely accurate.

My Duty gun, HK P7, is the most accuarate pistol I've ever shot. Of course you can't really beat a fixed barrel.

I have no "science" to back this up, but in my long career, I carried .38's, .357's. 1911-.45, H&K P7, Beretta 92, and Sig 226 in both .40 and 9mm. I had to qualify COUNTLESS times. I carried the 1911 for 5 years and I always shot a 99 or 100 with it. The others gave me only mid to high 90's. Take that for what it's worth.

Crisp, single-action trigger = consistent, tight groups. 1911s are good like that.

Don't let the nearly impossible to spot difference in accuracy be the breaking point in a defensive handgun. XD's are accurate, but not tack drivers.

The only thing that limits the 9mm is the weapons platform. The SigP210 are every bit as accurate as a 1911 in 45acp. The 1911 beats most service pistols due to it's ergonomics & great trigger. For pure target shooting, I would go 1911/45acp.
