Factory Guide rod

I'm having Guid rod problems, I just shot 50 rounds with my 45xd and a new guide rod, The same thing has accured again A circular crack has developed at the end of the rod that goes against the barrel. S/A says the rod needs to be replaced after 3000 rounds in which I did & the new one looks just like the first one did after just 50 rnds. Does anyone make a aftermarket guide rod for a XD service 4 inch in a 45 cal?Any help would be GREAT, Thank's Perry I'm getting a little woo about this.

It's the service I think that they aren't available for. The OP was asking for his XD45 Service.

I can't imagine the gall (or ignorance) of a Springfield rep's saying that you need to replace and XD's guide rod every 3000 rounds. That's totally absurd and unreasonable. Something's either systemically wrong with the way some folks are installing the guide rods or something's sytemically wrong with the design of the guide rods.

Besides looking cool, what does the fat rod offer? and what spring do you use with yours?

I am going to Call Springfield Monday morning & ask about this $21.05 guide rod & spring set up that I was told By VICKI that needed replaced every 3-5K rnds At my exspense.I do the maintanace on the weapon every time I use it. Like I said before I'm getting kinda discouraged with this highly recommended weapon "GUN OF THE YEAR" Lifetime warranty CRAP!

Can you post a pic of of the guide rod? I haven't really heard of this type of problem before, and the fact that it has happened to two of your rods seems odd. The problem that i think youre describing, isn't really a problem, and that is what the guide rod is supposed to look like. Again, i might be wrong, but a pic would help.

If it looks like this, then you don't have a problem. This is normal.
Should my guide rod look like this after ~1500 rounds?

Mercmar, the reason the guide rod needs to be replaced around 3-5k rounds isn't because of the rod itself, but because the springs are worn out.
