Talking I switched from metal to plastic...

I switched from a 1911 for concealed carry, and bought an XD .45 compact, and I am not looking back. Less weight, even carrying more rounds, and much more reliable. In firearms training classes, other guns have jammed up or stopped functioning altogether, but not my XD's.

I know I won't score any points around here with this one, but the only reason I bought my XD45 Tactical was because I didn't have the cash on hand to buy the 1911 I really wanted. Had sudden windfall one night I wasn't expecting, bought the XD the next morning (hard to find a gun store open at midnight on a Wednesday...).

I still plan to get a 1911 in the future, but the $800+ entry price for what I want is a bit much on a bartender's wages.

Plus I also need an M4gery, and I think that'll come first, since it's more likely to become legally difficult sooner...

Giving some serious thought to temporarily parting with some of the revolvers to finance semi-auto purchases.

No. I fired a 1911 recently and can't figure out what the appeal is.

Yes. Get the 1911. It's mankind's greatest achievement. The magazine capacity is plenty.

You're just broken.

Not to cause any trouble here but, I traded a XD45 Tactical I loved for a 1911 I loved even more. I was a little strapped and well... One day I probably will find my way back with a service XD model since the 1911 has the 5 inch barrel I wanted. The 1911 I went with was the Dan Wesson PM7. Now that she is broken in, she is smooth as butter. I don't really miss the 14 rounds because I know that I will hit what ever I aim this thing at! The trigger pull is a dream on this 1911. Maybe 4Lb on the heavy side, probably more like 3 3/4lb. Little take up and no over travel. This without a doubt is the most accurate and tightest 45 I have ever owned.
