But then again you have a lazer, which will compensate sights.. Its all personal preference but if you only want a laser make sure you get it sighted in so when you do take that undesired shot, you will hit what you are aiming at.

Based on my experience with MY TFOs on the other XD, they basically became useless dark blobs against any decent backlight. No worse or better than stock. This wasn't even with a high power luxeon or anything, just a $7 LED flashlight. The backlight washed out any glow from the tritium and since the light wasn't really bouncing down from the ceiling much the FO part didn't do anything.
In my view the night sights were a waste, only good in bright light or almost blacked out dark! That's why I think the light/laser will be nicer. |

Ive had TFO's on a little Glock 26, the 26 had no rail so I never got to see how they did with a light attached in the dark. Thanks again.

I can't say that night sights are totally lame. They do help some in certain lighting conditions. I just feel when you're in a tough spot, the laser will help get on target faster than ANY sight, in all light conditions.
I didn't even have the light attached when I tried, just held the flash in my weak hand in a darkened room to try it out. Maybe if you wore a miner's helmet with a light on your forehead, some of the light would pop the fiber optics! Or you'd have to walk around holding your flashlight over your head. TFO's, I put them on myself. I got the yellow/green version though. The green front does glow better, but the yellow sucks. Depending on the backlight, BOTH dim to nothing AND the fiber optic part doesn't glow either. Daylight is fine, bright as anything.
I decided to leave the TFO's on the car/carry gun and use the TLR-2 on the HD gun. Using the flashlight in tactical mode, ON/OFF, just made it the TFO's worse! The glow in the dark fine, pop light on, TFO's fade to black, pop light off, wait a few seconds for eyes to adjust and the tritium glow to come back. Useless IMHO. |

i put a tlr2 on my 5" and its pretty damn nice--i haven't really got after the laser and made it dead on, but at 10 yards its real close (within 2 or 3 inches)--the lights really good, if you look into it in full daylight it'll put a flare in the center of your field of vision that you can't see thru for several seconds, so imagine what it'll do to the intruder's eyes in the dark--fish in a barrel
