New XD45 Compact 4" - guide rod not 100% straight

No, I don't mean that it's eyeing me funny. When cleaning it for the first time before taking it shooting, I noticed that the guide rod assembly seemed slightly bent. I placed it on a flat surface and rolled it back and forth and sure enough, it has a slight curve to it. I can't tell whether anything is actually bent or if it is the result of the spring tension slightly pushing one piece of the assembly offset from another.

Any ideas?

Regardless, I gave it a good workout (about 200 rounds) an it ran just fine. My concern is that the curve might cause me to install it a bit off-center, resulting in locking up the slide when assembled. Man, I wish the XD had a divot or something cut into the barrel lug to positively center the guide rod assembly.

If this is normal, so be it. If not, I'll give Springfield a call and see what they say.

Thanks,

Justin

I can't imagine it's OK, mine all roll straight.

I'm on hold with Springfield customer service right now... they confirmed it should be straight and are going to send a new one out.

This is the first time I've dealt with their customer service, and so far I'm very happy.

Sure, I'd love for it to have been perfect from the factory, but I'm realistic enough to be happy with prompt, friendly service.
