Talking Accuracy

We took a firearms class over the weekend. I have an XD45Compact, and my wife has an XD9SubCompact. One of the other students was talking about the Springfield EMP. I asked if he had ever shot an XD. This guy was a pretty good shot, and put 50 rounds from each pistol in one small hole about 2 inches from edge to edge from both pistols at 20 yards. We didn't do quite as well, but we are very happy with our XD's. Zero malfunctions, unlike a Kimber that was in the class, which was very accurate, but had a few failures to feed and/or extract.
for the XD's!!

I know it's capable of it, every now and then when I do things right I realize how accurate it is. I never blame the this gun when I miss!

what kind of firearms course was it? it could have been a target bullseye shooter who has no self defense or tactical training.

Still, you have to master the front sight & trigger. A bullseye shooter can easily be trained into a fine comabt pistol shot. It's not just about how many rounds you can drop into a target at 7yds. SOmeytimes the fight goes out abit further.

I have a friend I shoot with who shoots as you describe. He is very accurate with XDs, 1911s, Glocks, Single Action Revloves, Double Action Revolvers. His one Glock has over 8000 rnds! I feel happy when I get all 13 rnds from my XD in a six inch group at 7 yards, but I have less than 500 rnds in my autoloaders. Practice!!!

Could you say if that is 20 yards measured and confirmed? Or would it be more like probably 20 yards or so or possibly 20 yards? I thought I'd ask because, with my old eyes, I doubt that I could see the target at a measured 20 yards.

My common practice distance is a measured 12.5 to 15 yards on a Redfield rifle sighting target with a 4" diamond and that's hard enough for me.
