TFOs and carry gear
My UPS person showed up today with a package containing a set of green Tru Glo Tritium Fiber Optics and a Blackhawk Serpa CQC holster.
When I installed new sights on my Tactical, the front sight was the one I had the most trouble removing, while the rear sight was hardly any hassle at all. On the 4" Service, the exact opposite was the case. Finally I decided to use a Dremel and carbide cutting wheel to split the rear sight. (Both dovetails appeared to have residue that looked suspiciously like Loctite.) Anyway, once the old sights were out, I installed the Tru Glo sights using a sight pusher. (If I never put another set of sights in an XD it'll be too soon. I'd sooner pay someone else to do it next time.) 1. Those sights are awesome! 2. Did I mention that they are awesome? The Serpa Blackhawk works as well as advertised. After adjusting the active retention device, I began trying some draws. I found that within a couple of minutes I could not only draw the weapon very positively, but reholstering is almost automatic. It seems all I had to do was get some part of the muzzle near the bevelled mouth of the holster, and let gravity do the rest. To say that I've had a good day would be an understatement. Now if I can only get out to the range this weekend while my grass explodes into jungle full of pygmies mode. (I'm allergic to lawnmowers this year.) Here's a "before" picture. I'll get some "afters" in a day or so.
