I've fired roughly 1500 rounds through my XD45 since I bought it new in January. It's been about 80/20 for WWB and CCI Blazer, all 230grain.

I swear I never noticed this little hole before. Should the end of my guide rod look like this already?

The wear doesn't look that abnormal, but I'll let some others chime in.

Mine looks similar after more rounds. Has not broken yet. I figure when it does break and the gun won't fire or go into battery I'll send it in leaving a note with it saying "oh yeah... while you've got it torn apart, do something about the god-aweful finish you put on it."

they just send you a new one...don't even have to send the old broken one back...

Does anyone make a sturdier after market part that we could replace the stock one with??

I have made some prototypes but the problem is finding a spring that will hold it in battery proper. No luck so far and not the time to trial and error my way to a correct custom spring. Maybe if the right bonus comes in from work I can play, but it is a dry year so far.

Thanks for the quick responses guys. It's funny how you suddenly notice something one day, even though you've looked at it probably a hundred times, and it doesn't look right...

Mine looks a little wurse than that. Called S/A today spoke with Vicki , she told me that after about 5000 rnds the factory guide rod should be replaced! I ordered one for $14.00plus tax Total of $ 20.95 . I'll keep the old one in my bag just in case it what 's to act stupid someday
