Another satisfied customer of Springer's trigger kit!!! but...
I installed Springer's trigger kit, sear, sear spring, and trigger spring, on my XD45 tactical two weeks ago. Finally had the chance to go to the range yesterday. All I have to say is AMAZING!!
I went thru my first 50 round box of Blazer brass without problems. About half way thru the second box, I went to pull the trigger... click. I went thru the safety procedures, clearing the round and found the primer only had a very light dent. Shot a few more, no problems, then again click. I had a total of 5 or 6 FTFs. Does anybody had the similar modifications and had the same problem?? I love the feel of the trigger kit and hope the problem is not related. I gave my XD a good cleaning as soon as I got home. I plan to go to the range this weekend to retest.

I've heard this can be a side effect of getting a trigger job.

Get a box of cheap pencils. Wrap a layer of tape around the metal part that holds the eraser in place. (So the metal doesn't scratch anything.) Unload and clear your XD. (Double check.) Cock the striker. Point your XD at the ceiling, drop the pencil in eraser first. Pull the trigger. The firing pin should hit the eraser hard enough to shoot it out and make a nice dent in the eraser. Repeat with a new pencil. Go through a dozen or so pencils to see if you are getting consistent results.
Take the slide off the frame and (looking at the underside of the slide) make sure you can press the firing pin safety in freely and it springs back out freely. Looking at the frame, press down on the arm that pushes the firing pin safety up when the gun is assembled. Slowly pull the trigger while pressing down on that arm while watching the sear. You want to feel the arm moving up before the sear starts to lower. Go shoot it some more and make sure it wasn't a box of bad ammo. |

D_Fence:
Couple of adds: Use an unsharpened pencil if possible (eye - wear safety glasses -and ceiling hazard), and point the thing in a safe direction. And a question: Does this thing have a "trigger reset" issue like the Para LDA? (I realize that the design is quite different, and shouldn't, but....) (I once had my LDA act like that, until I remembered to release the trigger When I took mine out for the first time (a couple weeks ago), I got a nasty FTE due to a case stuck in the chamber. (As in "bash it out with a stick".) No apparent damage, but you could see some odd markings on the case. Later, during cleaning, I found tramp metal in the bore. I'd not bothered to clean that, although I did a quick lube on the rest of the likely areas. I'm wondering if mjleeeee's got some crud in the firing pin tube or the related components. Some years ago a local smith did some "tuning" for me on an 1911 extractor. The gun did all kinds of strange things, including leaving the firing pin stop in my shirt pocket. After-action, I found metal shavings in the firing pin tube.... No damage, but it shot a lot better afterwards. Needless to say, I avoid that guy now. I still haven't figured out how (really haven't tried) to get the striker assembly and extractor out of the XD. Someday.... Regards,

I had this problem, the trigger block safety was dragging on the firing pin block. Took the safety out, stoned it down slightly, problem solved. Ask Scott, he'll tell you exactly what to do.
I did all the other stuff just recommended first: the pencil test, checking to see if the gun was in battery when it didn't hit the primer well, etc. This is what you need, I did it myself and I never work on my guns: http://www.xd-hs2000.com/disassembly...sassembly.html

does messing with this stuff, swapping out parts, etc. etc. affect your warranty with SA?

Tard:
Thanks! jtkratzer: Probably not. Avoid using the Dremel for much more than stirring coffee (or paint) and try to avoid looking like you used a sledge to fasten things like roll pins. It probably doesn't matter if you tell them or not - if they can't tell, you likely should be finding another source of repairs anyway. I don't know what the official policy is. Other gun makers are pretty good about stuff like this, if you don't deliberately damage anything. Regards,

After I got home and cleaned the gun I did the pencil test. The pencil strikes the ceiling every time. maybe I'll disassemble the slide and fully clean the firing pin.
What Tard said might be the possible cause... I will look into filing the trigger block safety.

This is caused by the disconnector not being pushed up enough to disengage the striker safety. i filed a small amount of metal off the back of the striker(the area that faces the front of the gun)
