Good question actually, But sadly for the wrong reasons.

Ever since that other plastic pistol hit the market a couple of decades or so ago with it's polygon rifling people ask this question.

One of the things that the new Croatian pistol, known to us in the USA as the XD, does to correct the deficiencies of the Glock (oops I wrote the name of that inferior pistol) was to make a proper barrel with a proper feed ramp and chamber and a proper lock-up system.

i.e. No worries for ANY reason in shooting properly made ammo with lead bullets.

So go have fun with your reloads.

P.S.... Some of us have problems with reliable feed cycling and the LSWC bullet in .45 acp . I have switched to TC/FP and solved the problem for myself. Of course the LRN is fine too. <- There are a few threads on this topic here on this forum.

The only problem you are going to have sending lead bullets down the pipe of the XD is having to clean all the fouling out after every outing. The lead can be messy.

I like to finish up my lead bullet shooting with a mag of copper jacket bullets. I don't see much in the way of fouling when I go to clean my barrel.

I reload a 200grain lead round nose Oregon Trail bullet over 6 grains Universal at an OAL of around 1.24 with no problems in a XD45 service and 1911 Loaded. Pretty cheap load. I also use the Ranier 200gr copper plated lead round nose with the same OAL and powder charge. These are relatively accurate, clean shooting loads that don't empty the wallet.
