The stock spring weight for the 45ACP Tactical is 18.5# right? Just checking. I want to start off by using the stock spring weight with the Canyon Creek tungsten rod.

Alrighty, I'm gonna order the Canyon Creek Rod and Spring tonight from PistolGear.com.

This is all I need to order, right?

I assume that kit will include everything I need?
Do I need to also order a bushing or anything?
18.5# spring will work?

1) What's the difference between .100 Optic Front and .125 Optic Front and which one should I get?

2) What is a ballpark price on having a gunsmith install these?

3) Will this interfere with my ability to holster the gun?

1) Can I install this or do I need a gunsmith? Ballpark price for install?

2) Should I get the 16#, 18.5#, or 20# spring with the kit? Or should I just use my stock spring?

3) What is the advantage of changing spring tension?

I know this is a lot of information to cover, but I'd really appreciate some answers. I'm really getting into my XD and I'd like it to be one sweet tricked-out pistol. Also, if anyone would like to recommend a better alternative to one of the items I've listed here, or even recommend some additional gadgets that I should invest in, please feel free to do so.

Thanks in advance folks.
DAWSONS
1~ .100 is smaller, I have it on mine, smaller equals miss smaller in my book.
2~ Scott Springer did mine and it's a nail driver, no adjustments needed.
3~ Does not interfere with a blade tech holster, thats what I use.

NHO Release
1~ I installed this on my 45. It wasn't as easy as they make it look. The pins don't come out of a new/newer XD as expected. Once it was installed it kept catching when it was depressed. So I couldn't seat a new mag. But I was sending it to Springer anyway to get the comp trigger and all kinds of other stuff, so he just trimmed it up for me and it works like a dream now.

CC Guide Rod
1~ Again I have the rod in mine, you just throw it in, no gunsmith required.....Great addition by the way!
2~ You can use your stock spring or whatever you want. I have 14,16.18,18.5 and 20# just for the purpose of testing them. Right now with 185gr Winchester White Box I use a 14# spring in competition. I haven't had a problem yet. Everyone winces at using a 14# spring in the 45 but you have to use very light loads for it to be safe.
3~ Slide speed, felt recoil and loading are the only things I can think of. With my 14# wolff spring the slide is still faster than I can shoot and the felt recoil is definately less than the 20#.

Trigger Upgrade Kit
1~ This wasn't out when I was getting mine worked on. But I think I would send it to Springer if I was going to do anything.

MY GUN~ The X-Grip that Springer offers is totally worth it if you are looking to do competitions.

EDIT: You don't need another spring. If you want to use the stock spring thats fine. The stock rod and CC's rod are the same diameter. I went ahead and got all of them so I could test them. Just remember light loads, light spring. Heavy loads, heavy spring.

No pics with mods yet, but here's a "spur of the moment" glamor shot that I like Just finished cleaning in this pic so there's still some spots of oil on the slide and such

Just back from the range. I installed Don's fat guide rod and 20# spring in my Com Tac. They work great and do seem to make a noticeable difference. I was shooting Blazer Brass and a few reloads (all 230gr FMJ). My grouping seemed a bit tighter, but it could have just been a good day. More range time will tell,
