Well, never shot a 45 but....
I guess I'm going to get the XD-45 tactical I seen at Academy's. I here so many people talk good about theres and I have a XD-9 and love it, so if the XD-45 is as good or better I guess I can't go wrong.

I can't recommend it highly enough. I was a long time 9 mil fan and my main carry was a G19 until I bought my XD45C. Since then the only pistols that I've purchased have been in .45. I don't intend to get rid of my nines, or at least most of them, but I love the .45 especially from an XD.

Dito. Of all my hand guns my XD 45 tactical is my favorite to shoot. It's kind of like having kids, you love them all but some are special to you in certain ways.

I have an XD .45 service, CZ-P01 (9mm), PX4 Storm (9mm), Sig 226 (9mm), and a Sig 220 (.45). I still think the XD is the best when you combine 13+1 rounds of .45, all at a price of under $500.00 new; really hard to beat. I do love my Sigs though.

I also have the XD .45 tac. Mine eats any thing you feed it, and I have had no issues. I rely prefer the slow push of a 45 recoil to the snap of the .40

Go for it. Hell, I never shot a .45 before I got my XD .45 Tactical and I'm confident that I made a great decision. However, I'm thinking of getting an XD-9 Tactical and a set of adjustable target sights because .45 ammo is not very economical for plinkin' ($27 vs. $18 for 100 rds @ Walmart). Guess the moral of the story is that you can't go wrong with either the 9 or the 45

The XD 45 is a great gun. I had sworn off autoloading pistols because I had a hard time getting the grip right until I fired a XD 45 service. I shot it so well I went out and got myself on of my own. Now my revolvers sit in the gun safe waiting for my kids to get big enough to handel them!

I find that the XD 45 handles recoil really well. I very quickly return to target, and my wrist is less sore from a long range session than when I shoot my Sig 220. I have some arthritis and this matters.

My XD .45 service is the first and only .45 I've shot. its got some recoil, but it pushes back...rather than flipping up...at least if you have your wrists locked proper. followup shots are accurate and its easy to manage what recoil there is.
now if I only had an unlimited supply of ammo.... |
