new member XD 45 Tactical or Service?
I am in the market for a new handgun and would like a little feedback. My local shop has both a Tactical and Service model in stock. Both guns are very comfortable to handle. Could you please let me know which you prefer and why?
Thanks |

welcome to the forum...whats the purpose of the gun? If you not going to be carrying it - get the XD45 Tactical:
- longer slide has slightly better sighting radius - slightly better recoil control and you can modify characteristics with aftermarket full length springs and guiderods - just a little cooler looking ; ) If you're even thinking about carry, get the service or even better, the compact XD45.

What part of Western Colorado? You can come try a service 45ACP. I am 30 miles east of Pueblo.
After looking and feeling them, I would tend to go with the 4", but that may just be me. Mostly because it is a bit handier. Were I using it exclusively for target shooting, I might think of going with the tactical, but I have grown fond of a handier auto. |

A long way from Pueblo. I'm in rural Delta County. Thanks for the offer though. |

go with the 4"
not much of a difference in accuracy or reliability for either so you might as well go for the one that is smaller and looks better |

I've shot my 4" Compact side-by-side with my 5" Compact and, at least in my hands, the 5" Tactical is more accurate at the longer distances (>12yds) than the 4". I think this is what most people have reported on the forum.
