HexSite (sight) System, an Arizona product question.

Hi Guys and Dolls,

Before buying the XD, I did a little looking around. I did consider the nightglo or such, but I just don't do that. But, I found this site on the web, and it just pulled me in. I've used these sights, or similar, before but on a carbine and I love them. I think he did improve on them with the hex shape. I believe this will be fine, I am more curious about his work and reputation. As well, if this is a good system, I want to get an alternative out there for others to look at.

So, if anyone has worked with him or this shop, I would be grateful for a response. As well, I would be interested in hearing what others think of this mod. It's not cheap, but since the XD doesn't really need any other mods to my line of thinking, it's less than many other pistols that way.

This one has been discussed before but it has been a while. I think it needs another look.

I don't think this system is any better than other systems. Some people will have a different outlook, but I don't think it is any faster than other systems. The rear sight is too tall doesn't look comfortable for combat use. Their own picture shows how the system compared to other systems.

Their System

Standard Glock

Most other 3 Dot systems

These pictures just prove that the system fuzzes out the rear sight more and that the photographer can't take very good pictures.

The fact is that most of these "ghost ring" systems are only popular with a certain crowd. I am a traditionalist and don't see any reason to change from systems that work very well.

Notch and post will not be replaced for a long time.

I read the entire website, I don't see how this is any better than the standard site. Actually, for those of us who have been trained for notch & post I think it would be MORE difficult to get use to. I would always be trying to put the TOP of the hex in line w/ the post.

I tried the big dot setup before - after that, I no longer go with non traditional sight pictures.

Thanks for the feedback. I certainly understand going with what works. All I know is that for me, those sights are breathtakingly right. I've never seen them on a handgun thought, so I just... but I think so. It would be a boring life if we all really liked the exact same things.

As for speed, start slow, do it right, and do it often. I am perpetually amazed by how quickly 'fast' arrives. Did you realize we move faster than a striking rattlesnake? I haven't proved it out yet, but it's on my list of things to do, somewhere.

Well, I think IDPA rules forbid this as a ghost sight, at least in certain if not all classes of pistols. Since I am considering competing, I'll hold off until I decide if I will compete, learn more about specific rules for specific guns, and then rethink it. Could get another XD, but that's rock sliders and a skid plate, a reloading press, 1/2 of more of my next planned gun purchase, a ton of camping gear, or the makings for a lean month at the table.

I would ask that they print more money, but that doesn't look like it's turning out so good either. Bah. Thanks for your thoughts.

You are correct it would be considered a Ghost ring style sight. Illegal by IDPA rules.

HexSite

See my post in the New Type of Sighting System thread. There I provide a lot of feedback on my experience with the HexSite and I have a lot at this point in time with a variety of guns. You will also see my response regarding the Ghost ring sight. I have both so I am in a position to address this with specific knowledge of both. It is easy to take a position when one does not have specific experience or knowledge on the items being compared.

For defensive shooting....the only thing that should be "in-focus" should be that front sight. Just look for that front sight when putting together your sight picture you eyes will automatically center the front post on the rear notch. The rear sight and the target should be out-of-focus and you should be concentrating on that front sight post.

Honestly any sight system which you feel comfortable with (and make sure that it will fit ALL your holsters before buying them.

hey....

how about the sure sight st-1.... suresight.com ????
I was contemplating going witht the ghost ring set up but the emphasis is on the rear sight ....when it should be on the front sight... especially in combat
