Focus on the front sight

I have been shooting with a HexSite for almost two months now. I shoot it on my Glocks and also on my XD9 and XD45. FYI my XD45 is my favorite gun. I guess until you try it for yourself you will just have to take my word that it is possible to shoot with a hard focus on the threat, not the front sight. Having done that for a while now there is no way I would go back to the old way of shooting. The more I shoot by focusing on the threat the better I like it.

If you are happy with the sights you now have good for you. Personally the reason I tried the HexSite was I was looking for any edge I could get, especially in self defense shooting. I have a box full of sights that I have tried seeking that edge. Contact me if you would like to purchase some of my used sights. I have one or more of just about every type that is sold.

I also have just put the HexSite on an Airsoft type Glock gas operated semi-automatic pistol. This is one of the best purchases I have made. I really like the Airsoft as I can practice in my garage and do lots of things that I am not allowed to do at the range. I have already put over 500 pellets on target. I will probably shoot about that many in each practice session now. It is cheap to shoot and is close to the real gun in everything except noise and recoil. I have left the conventional sights on some of the Airsoft gas guns so I can keep comparing the two sighting systems and to remind myself of what I gave up. Also having both will let my students select the sighting system they want to use during their training.

The HexSite works just fine in low light. I can control the lights in my garage so I can now easily create various lighting conditions when I am shooting. That allows me to test how the sights work in different lightning conditions. I can also pick up a Airsoft gun with conventional sights to see how they work in the same situation. The HexSites are proving their worth to me while shooting on the move and I am working on setting up some moving targets using a fan to cause the targets to jump around in a random way. Plastic pellets do not destroy my garage. I just have to sweep them up.

I carry a concealed gun and the reason I practice is to prepare me for the time when I might need that gun to defend myself. For me everything else is secondary.

I have found that I really like the "trapazoid" sights on the Steyr MA1 handguns. Something about that bright white triangle up front just gets me lined up on target quicker than the post and notch sights I grew up with.

I think that if you go through their custom shop, it can be done. I just emailed the guy that runs the shop. I plan on talking to him to confirm.

HexSite on my XD's

If I can figure out how to post a picture of my two XD's that have HexSites installed on them I will publish it on this site. That should prove that I actually have the sights installed on my XD's.

FYI. Getting them on an XD is currently a custom job and required me to send my guns to Arizona. After putting the HexSite on my Glocks myself I then decided that I did not want to shoot any of my guns that did not have the HexSites on them. I also am having HexSites mounted on my two SIG's. Those guns are in Arizona right now. If the Goshen development schedule is met there should be a HexSite available for self install on XD and SIG by the end of this year.

Since I have switched to the HexSite, I have the following sights available for sale. They have been on my XD's at one time or the other. Two TruGlo Fiber Tritium, one Meprolight night sight, one Advantage Arms sight. Email me if you are interested. I have a Ghost Ring night sight installed on my XD40 Tactical and will sell that sight in the future. Right now I keep it so I can show people the difference between a Ghost Ring and a HexSite.

jbfla is correct, they can do most any gun in the custom shop. i sent in my Delta Elite and FN 5-7 today. i had to give Tim pretty much carte blanche on the timeframe on the latter as it has no dovetails and is just generally resistant to modification, but he vowed to make it happen if i was patient. i don't think the turnaround's too bad on XD's, though, is it jb?
