New XD Compact from Jersey
Picked up my XD .45 compact and its off to the range tommorow. After
getting a .500 SW Magnum Last Month, this should be mild. Handling my new XD is very comfortable but wonder if anyone out there has the slide stop as difficult to realease as mine. Racking the slide seems a lot easier but wonder if that can cause damage. Inputs appreciated. |

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the Compact (I now have the Compact Tactical). The slide stop will loosen a bit with use, but it's perfectly fine to rack the slide instead of using the slide stop.

Don't rack or drop the slide on an empty chamber - but otherwise, many shooters just pull the slide back and let go, and do not use the slide release.
1911s and some other guns can be finikey sometimes - when U just pull the slide back, you get a little more "oomph" from the recoil spring - shutting the slide closed. Most modern semi autos don't have this issue. But a lotta old timers still do it out of habit. So, nothing wrong with that. |
