I have basically done that. I have nearly 20 XD 45 mags, 30 AR mags, untold amount of AK mags, and at least 20 FAL mags. I also have an extra AR receiver, a fal receiver... .

I don't list my guns - I know glocks, FALs, and AKs but I'm not sure my ability to fill a gunsafe with guns make me an expert on anything.

All that you can depend on from a 45 is that it will drill a .45 - .70 inch hole about 14 inches into someone. There will not be "energy dump", people will not fly backwards, and they will not necessarily fall as if they have been struck by lighting.

I own a few .45s, but can't imagine where you came up with this.

The introduction of the XD-45 (in the extremely popular .45 ACP caliber) in January of 2006 has made the XD the "most talked about handgun" in the eyes of many interested shooters[citation needed]. The industry press took notice as well, awarding the XD-45 the title of "Handgun of the Year" from both American Rifleman magazine and the The Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence[citation needed].

In all seriousness, unless you are shooting IPSC, IDPA, or the like I don't feel that I would have any use for more than the 13rd. mag in my .45. I haven't shot IPSC in a while, but I believe that they still have a box that your pistol with magazine inserted, must fit into to be allowed.
Speaking .45s, my 1911 with 10 rd. mags fit, and I am sure my XD service with the 13 rd. mag. would fit. Any extension of these would not fit.

As far as "fun" at the range, it's a personal preference I guess. I usually don't load more than 10 at a time when range shooting. Then again, I am concentrating on tactical drills, and accuracy. Your mileage may vary.

I was talking to my gunsmith this week (who's business is mostly competition shooters who use hi-cap mags.) and he is very concerned about being out of business when hi-caps are banned again. While I feel for him, I personally won't go out and buy a bazillion hi-cap mags. I just don't have much use for more tahn I already have.

As for the rest of you, I suggest that you get what you need while you can (especially those of you shooting competatively). I believe that another ban is inevitable. Of course it will do nothing to keep lunatics from doing insane and evil things, but that is never the real goal of the banners anyway.

Arrendo makes a nice +2 extender for the .45 XD mags. Got a couple a few weeks ago for shooting steel.
