loading mags? an odd question.

I just bought my XD45 compact and did not really think about how hard/easy it was to load the mags.

On my other semi-auto a beretta PX4. it has two 17 round mags. well when I get 14 rounds in them the last 3 are hard to squeeze in.

Now with my XD45 with both the 10 and 13 round mags I can fit all the rounds in them without having to use the mag loader to help.

both mags worked well so I am not worried that they will cause problems.

I just wanted to know if others think that the mags are really easy to load.

I have the same XD45 pistol and 13 rd mags.
The last 3 rounds are pretty stiff to get in so I usually use the
speed loader I bought from Pistol Gear. Works great.
Interesting to hear about your mags. I thought mine had a pretty
strong spring.

I can load both sized mags by hand ok, but I use the XD loader at the range just to save the fingers when I am doing a lot of reloads. That being said, I have sliced my thumb open on the 10 rd mag loading the last rd in a moment of inattention.

I use the Cambi Loader #104 because its adjustable for most mags. I often shoot 9MM and and the XD-45 at the same range session and only take one loader. Saves the thumbs/fingers!

buy extra mags, then reload em at home while surfing the net or watching tv.

I have 5 mags now and my shooting sessions are usually right around 50 rounds cause then I don't have to reload at the range. I keep one loaded with defensive rounds so 4x13=52 rounds. I do shoot the pistol 1-2 times per week, so I get plenty of practice. each time i shoot I take the top two rounds out of my carry mag to make sure that my defensive ammo gets rotated.

I know this is blasphemy but a Glock loader for a 17/19/22/23 fits the PX4 mags and a Glock loader 20/21 fits the XD 45 mags pretty well...

Of course it helps that I have several lying around too

It's easier to load the magazines for my XD-45 than my XD-9sc.

My xd .45acp is my 1st double stack and I found the mags hard to load by bare hands. Using the xd loader made it a lot easier.

I've heard people rip on the loader that comes with the XD. Really not sure why. Most loaders that come with pistols are much more basic and cheap. They serve their purpose well, but not any better than the XD's. Ever see one of the POS loaders that come with a $1000+ Kimber? You did? Liar, a "Custom" Kimber comes with one mag and thats it. Damn they are NICE though!!!
