new owner of a compact XD45, question?
Hello all,
I have been around the forums a bit and was in the market for a new XDsc. I was looking for a 9mm but no one in my area had one within reasonable driving distance. I was out in the norhtern part of Indiana and found a gun shop. Well they had no 9mm's but had one 45acp(compact). I was able to get it for 560. I am not sure if I did ok on the price but I am happy with the purchase. My question about it is about the guide rod. The guide rod sticks out of the front of the side just a little bit. Is it supposed to fit flush to the slide? http://www.vzwpix.com/mi/152994087_503198775_0.jpeg? Last edited by rxraptor02 : 04-09-2007 at 12:47 PM. |

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the XD45 Compact. I have one also, nice .45 isn't it? As for the guide rod, that's normal it isn't supposed to fit flush, sticks out just a little. Prices usually are around $520 +/-, so 560 out the door is on the high side, but not terribly bad. Just enjoy the XD, grab some rounds and head to for the range and let us know how it shoots.

Thanks,
I looked at the SA website after I posted this and the others look the same as well. I am taking it out tomorrow. My local shop has open range time tomorrow. I bought some WWB and a box of cor-bon 185gr JHP +P. I can wait to run some rounds through it. I will post on how it does. |

Its debated by some, but yes the guide rod is meant as a Stand Off device - meaning it prevents the slide from easily being pushed out of battery, turning the XD into a paperweight at a critical moment.
