I wouldn't use them for anything. Stick to the hollow points.

Even though Air Marshalls carry them (from what I have read) I think this is mainly a Public Relations issue. Most people think that if you put a small bullet hole in the side of an aircraft the damn thing comes apart. Which is untrue. If people found out they were packing ammo that could go though a planes skin they might freak out a little.
The frangible ammo should be reserved for range use where they may not allow the use of FMJ ammo. Speer Gold Dots all the way baby.

Assuming this is the version I'm familiar with, there are two reasons I wouldn't use it. First, and most important: The tests I've seen say it only works well in very optimal conditions. Second, I won't trust carry ammo until I've verified that it will feed and fire at least 50 rounds without a problem, and I won't continue to trust it unless I fire a mag every few months. That's kind of expensive with Glaser.

I can tell you, I picked up the .45 glaser blue safety, and I setup the mag to have one ever 4th round. I did the whole homemade ballistics gel with 10 %, and I shot some hydrashock into it and those didnt even mushroom and then i shot speer gold dot into it and those mushroomed everytime, and then i shot the glaser blue and the whole dang block exploded, and it was peppered with little metal fragments. I have it as my first round in the chamber and swear by them. Just hope I never have to use them. itll be Ugly

When people conduct those studies, how many instances are researched of actual shootings and damage to people? Testing is all fine and dandy, but when it comes down to it, are these defensive loads really all that much different as far as the end result, stopping your attacker? As long as it stops someone I could care less if it blows off a shoulder or liquefies every internal organ it comes near.
