you should always make sure the gun is unloaded when displaying the pistol to friends and family...

or if it is...dont reload it and lose track of where the mag is

dont put your hand in front of the barrel when you pull the trigger

make sure no one is standing in front of you when you do

i think that sums it up...

i put a nice 9mm hole through my left hand...then the round proceeded to about take off my grandpas right ring finger before entering the hand, traveling through the wrist tunnel, and coming to rest between the bones of his forearm.

this dumbass move earned me 1 night in hamot medical center in erie, him 2 nights, the possible loss of one of his fingers, 50% loss of feeling in his right (dominant) hand, and unforseen damage yet to be seen because he is still swelled up bad...i will lose about 60% feeling in my left ring finger and be unable to make a full fist or straighten my hand again...i'd however...gladly trade him places...since now i'll have the lifelong guilt to live with of knowing 1 millisecond of stupidity on my part caused him so much suffering...i'd rather be the one losing the use of his dominant hand...it was my fault afterall...

i believe what i actully did was this:

i always carry +1 so normally i'd drop the mag, rack the slide to eject the loaded round, point down and dry fire...well i think i thought i already dropped the mag since i had had it in and out about 5 or 6 times...so i racked the slide and "dry fired"

only this time it was a live round...

The firearm is ALWAYS loaded...if if you think it's not, check again. This serves as another reminder to always treat your firearms with the utmost respect.

Owning a gun is an awesome responsibility. If this event really happened, the guy who shot himself and his grandpa was pretty negligent.

I wouldn't flame this person, wouldn't think of it.

You had a life lesson that you lived through and you have to come to terms with it. The point is you LIVED THROUGH IT! I look back at my growing up days and things I did that were NOT firearm related and I say "Whew what was I thinking? I can't believe I made it through that!" A certain FEW times exploring the old abandoned DanversStateHospital comes to mind. Sapino's would be our staging point, LOL

On that note, this DOES make me feel less OCD. I don't care if that slide is off the frame, you DON't point a barrel at me. You learned the hard way;
someone less fortunate and very stupid will learn the dead way.
