Exclamation LaserMax in GREEN...

I'm thinking about getting the new LaserMax guiderod laser for the XD .45 service but would rather wait for a green laser. I sent Dan Claffery and email with the following reply:

We are currently working on a Green Unimax that will be out later this year.
As for internal guide rods in green we continue to work on them but currently do not have a time frame for a release for them in green for any model gun.

Dan Claffey

Just thought others might be curious.

Is there an advantage to using green, as far as higher visibility, or...?

The green is supposed to be able to project farther and also be more visible in bright light (daylight, bright flourescent lighting, etc). The pictures from the SHOT show had a green laser projected something like 300' on a wall and it was clearly visible. Although I wouldn't be taking a 300' shot with my XD (well probably not anyway), that's pretty impressive for a handgun laser sight.

Good to know. I'll be looking for it to hit the market.

I've tried a LaserMax indoors at a show in the convention center here in San Antonio, and experienced about the same range indoors with a red laser. I think the green's advantage is in daylight, but it has the disadvantage of being more visible back to the source!

Cheers! M2

YES, this is what I've been wanting for a VERY long time. If you look at the nature of light and wavelengths, the green is more visible than the red. There are alot of reds that are actually below our visual perception. The green color is the only thing that actually made me look at some AimShot lasers over the lasermax, but since they did not make any integral lasers, it was also not what I wanted. When they do eventually come out with an integral laser in green, I'll buy it immediately, lol. Thanks for the post, this information is exciting to me.

Sure it's a laser pointer @ thinkgeek but it has some pics that show how much brighter a green laser is. I'd like to have one just for the hell of it, but I'm not going to spend $89 on a laser pointer.

You could also ask about a blue laser... but that'll set you back even more. http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/lights/896a/
And it'd probably make the bad guy think the aliens were coming for him again.

It may be more visible back to the source, but I'm pretty sure I'm not going to activate it until I am ready and willing to shoot. There's no point in giving yourself away until you are actually ready to fire.

I wonder how bad that green would hurt if you flashed it in an intruders eyes along with a tac light ...it is on a higher frequency and technically brighter, so longer blindness correct?
